Diablo 3 could have Become an MMO, a "Diablo Version of World of Warcraft"

Torchlight and Torchlight 2 are single-player games (Torchlight 2 has co-op multiplayer) and the next Torchlight title is going to be an MMO. Blizzard's Diablo series could have walked on the same path, as Runic Games' CEO Max Schaefer told that Diablo 3 was originally an MMO.



Max Schaefer helped create the previous Diablo games but he's also an MMO man. "When I was working at Blizzard a million years ago we were working on Diablo III and it was an MMO. We were going to do the Diablo version of World of warcraft, " according to him. Blizzard changed their mind and the third Diablo game was not going to be an MMO. "So we left to start Flagship Studios and we brought in a lot of the guys, " Max said. Flagship's Hellgate: London and Mythos didn't succeed and Max Schaefer then co-founded Runic Games.

Diablo 3 requires players to connect to the internet all the time but Torchlight 2 doesn't. What's more, Torchlight 2 is priced at $19. 99. About the Torchlight MMO, we know very little about it but we hope it's not a Torchlight version of World of warcraft.
